Speaking to the team prior the departure for the tournament, Indian skipper Virat Kohli said, "I will never play for redemption. My only motivation is to keeping winning games for my country.”
Kohli went on to opine that the standard of competition in the Champions Trophy is higher than even the World Cup. "We want to win it without losing a game. We have to be at top of our game from Ball 1."
India's first match will be against arch-rivals Pakistan at Edgbaston on June 4. "India, Pakistan game is always exciting but for us it is a game of cricket. The hype around India-Pakistan game not always in our control," he explained.
Kohli feels the team is lucky to have the likes of Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh. "If given freedom, Dhoni and Yuvraj know how to bring their experience into play," Kohli explained.
Kohli had a mixed IPL with 308 runs from the 10 innings, including four fifties. His team, Royal Challengers Bangalore finished last.
