Former India off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has recommended retired pacer Zaheer Khan as the bowling coach of the Indian team.
Taking to social media, Harbhajan posted,”@ImZaheer would be the best option for indian fast bowling coach in my opinion..Great mind #Greatfella”
“I am open to it. I have already been advising the boys, so yes, I am open,” Zaheer who captained Delhi Daredevils was quoted as saying in an Indian Express report. “Coach has a bigger responsibility in the game even though it’s up to the players to perform. “It doesn’t matter whether the coach is a former bowler or batsman. All that counts is experience,” he further said.
Zaheer has been hailed as a ‘thinking bowler’ by the likes of Sachin Tendulkar and Mahendra Singh Dhoni, and is considered among the greatest left-arm pacers the game has produced.
During an illustrious career, Zaheer Khan played 92 Tests and 200 ODI matches, and claimed 311 and 282 wickets respectively.
